Polygraph examinations are used to verify truth and determine deception. Polygraph examinations can enhance an investigation by helping to clear the innocent and identify the guilty. Polygraphs are commonly used in civil and criminal legal matters, law enforcement pre-employment screening, and to monitor convicted sex offenders being supervised on probation or parole.

John Odum, CFLE

John is the founder of Cuesta Polygraph & Investigations LLC. He is a retired California police officer with over 35 years of investigation experience. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. John has presented at conferences throughout the US & Canada and instructed at Marston Polygraph Academy. He is a Certified Forensic Law Enforcement Examiner and Certified Post Conviction Sex Offender examiner. He is the past President of the National Polygraph Association. He is a recognized court expert witness in polygraph. In 2021, a California Appellate Court ruled in favor of the use of his polygraph evidence in a high-profile case. He has completed over 4000 polygraph exams for federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. He has published a peer reviewed paper in the Journal of the American Polygraph Association on polygraph and credibility assessments. John was a member of a forensic research team that studied the use of polygraph in psychopathic personalities. John was the recipient of the 2018 Richard O. Arther Award from the American Association of Police Polygraphists for significant contributions to the polygraph field.
